Ways We Serve
-

Vision
Our goal is to improve quality of life for people who are blind or visually impaired. We do this through free vision screening for ages 6 month-5 years of age, a grant program, and an eye glass recycling program.
-

Childhood Cancer
Our club partners with the Sunshine Kids for a special day to float the river and have some fun during the summer. The Club also works with local non profits to support families and children with Childhood Cancer.
-

Environment
We care deeply about the beautiful Sn Marcos River. We pick up trash at City Park all year round as well as volunteering twice a year for Great Texas River Cleanup. The club also partners with the Meadows Center, the San Marcos River Foundation, Texas State University and the City of San Marcos on various river conservation projects to keep the San Marcos River clean and flowing properly
-

Hunger
Lions provide a basket of food at Christmastime to some 100+ families in the San Marcos / Kyle area. The families’ names are provided by the SMPD Blue Santa Program and food is provided by HCFB and H-E-B. Distribution day is the Saturday before Christmas. We also support the Hays County Food Drive and School Fuel.
-

Youth
The club awards multiple scholarships on an annual basis to local high school seniors and college students. The San Marcos Lions Club sponsors two Leo Clubs, one being The San Marcos Academy Alpha Leo Club (ages 12-18) and the other is the he Medical Explorers Omega Leo Club (ages 18-30.)
-

Humanitarian
Humanitarian spirit is at the core of every Lion. Through LCIF’s Matching grant and District & Club Community Impact grant, Lions can support humanitarian activities in youth, health and wellness services, and community service initiatives.
-

Diabetes
The San Marcos Lions Club supports Diabetes Programs. Each year, our club sponsors events and awareness programs such as diabetic screenings and other forms of educational events
-

Disaster Relief
When natural disasters strike, Lions are among the first to offer help. With a disaster grant, they can do even more for communities devastated by hurricanes, floods, fires and other major events. As a foundation, we are proud to offer a variety of grant options to support various stages of disaster relief operations.
